Rui Jin has been playing piano for eight years. He first started in Massachusetts in 2006 with a teacher named Lu Lu. He competed in his first contest in 2008, winning an honorable mention in the Massachusetts Music Teachers Association competition. Later in 2008, he moved to New Jersey. There, he was taught by Stella Xu for five years, and won various New Jersey Music Teachers Association and New Jersey Music Education Association auditions and competitions. During his journey, he has performed at the Lincoln Center, as a result of winning the Cecilian Club Competition, and Madison Square Garden during halftime for a Knicks basketball game.  In 2013, Rui moved to Coralville, Iowa and started to attend Northwest Junior High. Presently, he is instructed by Dr. Ksenia Nosikova, a Professor of Piano at the University of Iowa. Outside of piano, his hobbies include art and tennis. In the future he would like to pursue architecture and music.

Katya Moeller is nine years old and resides in Coralville, Iowa.  She began taking violin lessons at the age of four and is a student of Christie Felsing at the Preucil School of Music (Iowa City). She also studies with Professors Almita Vamos and Roland Vamos in Chicago. She is a 4th grader at the Lincoln Elementary School (Iowa City).  She has participated in several recitals and concerts of the Preucil School, most recently as part of their 40 Annual String Concert at the Iowa Memorial Union.
 She is a seasoned traveler.  Her travels have included numerous trips to Russia, her second native country, vacation trips to Tunisia (twice) and Cyprus, as well as many US states. In 2013, she went to Asia and visited Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong.  She loves participating in her other activities, including reading and writing in both of her languages, swimming, and art.  Among her favorite things are animals, drawing, and making little gadgets out of clay. Her favorite foods are sushi and pasta.
